What type of skin do you have?

Is your skin oily, shiny or dull?

Do You Have Large Pores or Small Pores?

Are you prone to breakouts or not?

You can determine your skin type by answering these questions. You can then maintain a skincare regimen that is tailored for your skin type. This will help your skin look and feel its best.

There are five types of skin: normal, oily or combination, sensitive, and dry. Don’t assume you will always have the same type of skin.

Normal Skin Type

It is balanced. The skin is neither too dry nor too oily. It is not too dry or too oily.

Your skin will tend to be healthy and glowing.

You will have a few blemishes, but they are small and barely visible. You will have small blemishes that heal quickly if you have any.

You might not require any special products for this skin type. However, you will still need to maintain good skincare practices , including cleansing, moisturizing and wearing sunscreen.

Dry Skin Type

The skin is dry .

You may feel itchy and tight. Your skin could flake off or develop cracks.

You are more likely to develop wrinkles, lines and a duller skin tone.

While genetics can play a part, your lifestyle and environment also have an impact on dry skin.

If you live in an environment with low humidity, for example, this can cause your skin to lose moisture. If you take hot baths or showers regularly, this can also cause your skin to dry out.

Moisturizing regularly is the key to repairing dry skin. Consider getting an indoor humidifier to add moisture to your home’s air. Avoid harsh soaps and cleansers that can strip your skin’s natural oils.

Oily Skin Type

You can have a shiny look if you have oily skin. You will have larger pores and more blackheads or pimples.

Oily skin can be caused by high humidity environments. Stress, puberty or other hormonal changes can also cause it.

For oily or acne-prone skin, choose products with a non-comedogenic label. These products will not clog pores and help control oil production.

Avoid using products that are oily or greasy on your skin. They will only make it oilier.

Combination Skin Type

Most people have a combination of normal, oily and dry skin.

The T-zone, which is your forehead, nose and chin, may be oily, but the rest of your skin could be normal or dry. Maybe the opposite.

To care for combination-skin, you’ll have to use different products to treat different parts of the body. You might, for example, use a product that is oil-free on areas of oily skin and a moisturizer with more moisture on areas of dry skin.

Sensitive Skin Type

Skin that is sensitive has a more delicate texture than other types of skin.

Rashes, itching, redness or dryness may occur. You may also notice that your skin reacts more to certain products and the environment. It could be an allergic reaction, or a skin condition such as eczema.

Avoid using products with fragrances, harsh cleaners, or exfoliants if you have sensitive or irritable skin.

Test new products first on a small patch of skin, especially if your skin is prone to reactions. If you notice that something is irritating your skin, remove it and stop using the product immediately.
